FIUs are responsible for receiving suspicious transaction or activity reports from obliged entities established in the territory of their Member States. Certain suspicious transactions or activities reported to FIUs might however pertain to activities carried out by obliged entities in other Member States, where they operate without an establishment. In those cases, it is important that FIUs disseminate those reports to their counterpart in the Member State concerned by the transaction or activity, without attaching conditions to the use of those reports. The FIU.net system enables the dissemination of such cross-border reports. In order to enhance that functionality, the system is undergoing upgrades to enable the fast dissemination of such reports and to support significant exchanges of information between FIUs, and thereby the effective implementation of this Directive.
