Direct, timely and unfiltered access to beneficial ownership information by national public authorities is also crucial to ensure the proper implementation of Union restrictive measures, to prevent the risk of non-implementation and evasion of Union restrictive measures, as well as to investigate breaches of those measures. For those reasons, authorities competent for the implementation of such restrictive measures, identified under the relevant Council Regulations adopted on the basis of Article 215 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) should have direct and immediate access to the information held in the interconnected central registers.
