# Recital 3

Given that Regulation (EU) 2015/847 currently only applies to transfers of funds, that is to banknotes and coins, scriptural money, and electronic money as defined in Article 2, point 2, of Directive 2009/110/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, it is appropriate to extend the scope of Regulation (EU) 2015/847 in order to also cover transfers of virtual assets.
