# Recital 91

*In force · Directive (EU) 2024/1640, OJ L, 2024/1640, 19.6.2024 · Checked against EUR-Lex on 26 Oct 2026 · [Official source](https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/dir/2024/1640/oj/eng)*

Directive (EU) 2015/849 included a general requirement for supervisors of home and host Member States to cooperate. That requirement was subsequently strengthened to avoid the exchange of information and cooperation between supervisors being prohibited or unreasonably restricted. However, in the absence of a clear legal framework, the set-up of AML/CFT supervisory colleges has been based on non-binding guidelines. It is therefore necessary to establish clear rules for the organisation of AML/CFT colleges and to provide for a coordinated, legally sound approach, recognising the need for structured interaction between supervisors across the Union. In line with its coordinating and oversight role, AMLA should be entrusted with developing the draft regulatory technical standards defining the general conditions that enable the proper functioning of AML/CFT supervisory colleges.
