# Recital 54

Directive (EU) 2018/843 achieved the interconnection of Member States’ central registers holding beneficial ownership information through the European Central Platform established by Directive (EU) 2017/1132. The interconnection has proven to be essential for an effective cross-border access to the beneficial ownership information by competent authorities, obliged entities and persons with a legitimate interest. It will require continued development to implement the evolved regulatory requirements prior to the transposition of this Directive. Therefore, work on interconnection should continue with involvement of Member States in the functioning of the whole system, which should be ensured by means of a regular dialogue between the Commission and the representatives of Member States on the issues concerning the operation of the system and on its future development.
